Carl Dumbrell
CHAIRMAN
Carl Dumbrell is a partner of CDTL Chartered Accountants, President of St Michael’s Golf Club, director and company secretary of ASX and LSE companies.
As Foundation Chairman, Carl is responsible for corporate governance and finance.
Carl brings a cool head and a passion for excellence to the Foundation. -
Natalie O'Brien
NON EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Natalie is a multi-talented and multi-award-winning journalist who has worked around Australia, covering some of the country's biggest stories from government coverups to sex trafficking, immigration, the environment, police, courts and crime.
She was the first Investigations Editor appointed on The Australian Newspaper and was awarded a highly commended award in the Walkley Awards for her story Children Overboard Didn't Happen.
Natalie was also a recipient of a Kennedy Award in 2014 for her reporting on the Environment.
Her presence on the Kennedy Foundation board is a measure of her passion for her craft. -
Susie Elelman AM
NON EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Susie Elelman is truly the epitome of a multi-media broadcaster and a name synonymous with daytime television.
Susie has been deservedly described as the most versatile, informed and professional person in Australian media today.
Award winning author, TV presenter, radio broadcaster, reporter and producer are just some of the many hats she has worn throughout an impressive media career than spans five decades.
Highlights of Susie’s long list of television credits include almost nine years spent alongside Bert Newton as a presenter and reporter on Good Morning Australia on the Ten Network and as host and executive producer of her own national daily variety and lifestyle show SUSIE for the WIN/9 Network.
For her services to charity, the not-for-profit sector & the media, Susie was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia Award (AM) in the Queen’s Birthday honours list in June 2015.
As a First Generation Australian of refugee parents, Susie is very proud to be chosen as an Australia Day Ambassador each year since 2000.

Kate Allman
NON EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Kate Allman is a Sydney-based freelance journalist, broadcaster and TV presenter who reports widely on sport, travel, and legal issues.
Her portfolio is broad, with bylines in the News Corp newspapers, The Guardian Australia, Forbes Australia, across a variety of sport and travel publications, and as former Associate Editor of the award-winning LSJ magazine.
She was a finalist for the June Andrew’s Award for Women’s Leadership in Media in 2022 for her work on gender equality in sport as the co-founder of Equal Pay for Equal Play, and was named Young Journalist of the Year by the Council for Civil Liberties in 2021.

Daniel Stacey
NON EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Daniel is passionate about investigative and financial news and joined the Kennedy Foundation board to support the next generation of young reporters, as well as celebrate the craft and tradition of breaking news journalism.
Daniel is a former senior investigative reporter with the Wall Street Journal, with additional experience as Bureau Chief for the Financial Times Group’s Debtwire news service and Editor for ABC Radio National Online.
He has since built a career in impact investing as Chief Development Officer across Australia’s largest family office and philanthropy Tattarang and the Minderoo Foundation, and as Global Head of External Affairs for the emerging market private equity firm LeapFrog Investments.
In his journalism career he worked across print, radio, and television, and was awarded an Emmy as Associate Producer for Saddam’s Road to Hell, a documentary uncovering the Anfal Genocide, as well as receiving numerous awards for breaking news and feature journalism and two D&AD awards for publishing.
He is dedicated to the continuing role of journalism in helping undeserved populations and bringing truth and efficiency to financial markets.

Louise Roberts

Louise Roberts is a highly-experienced Australian journalist who has built and led teams in major newsrooms and has a strong international background in the UK and the US. Her current work includes a weekly opinion column and TV commentary for Sky News Australia and client consultancy in private industry. As a former Kennedy Award winner (The Peter Ruehl Award Outstanding Columnist 2020), Louise is deeply committed to supporting the current and next generation of journalists, sharing her knowledge and people-focused approach to help them succeed.

Anna Magnus
GENERAL MANAGER
Anna, in her career so far, has built productive partnerships with dozens of organisations across the country including, all levels of government, corporate, media, charities and not-for-profits.
Anna has a long history of engagement with the media and journalists having previously worked for ten years at the Walkley Foundations, National Manager of the Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance State Media Awards Program.
She is an Ambassador for One Million Women. Has worked for several leading organistions that support the community: Women in Media, the Australian Conservation Foundation, Variety: the Children’s Charity and the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service. She has been a member of a Ministerial Committee for Students with Disabilities and a member of the Ministerial Taskforce on Inclusive Education.
Terrifically focused and dedicated, no one can organise an event like Anna, and she is a much loved and valued member of our team. Even a room of journalists have given her a standing ovation for her work. -
David Margan
COMMUNICATIONS
David brings a wealth of experience and knowledge built on nearly four decades of life as a working journalist.
A former editor of Sydney University’s student newspaper, ‘Honi Soit’ he was one of four cadets chosen from 5000 applicants to join the ABC’s prestigious Public Affairs Radio Unit, makers of ÁM’, ‘PM’ and ‘The World Today’.
He’s worked on ‘Nationwide’, ‘The 7.30 Report’. ‘Business Sunday’ , ‘Lateline’, ’Foreign Correspondent. ‘Page One’ and in television has been an investigative reporter, producer, presenter and foreign correspondent.
He has also written feature articles and columns for News Ltd and Fairfax Media.
David has won a number of media awards and was a three times finalist in the Walkley Awards.
For the last twelve years, he has worked as a communications consultant for a number of clients in industry, government and not-for-profits. -
Fenlan Miller
PROGRAMS
Fenlan was the inaugural Kennedy Foundation Scholarship recipient in 2023, and now works as our Programs Director helping create opportunities for young people in media. He is also an Event Manager for Sabre and Belbin Australia working with leadership teams across the world in corporate, government, media and defence industries. As an active Army Reservist, he is currently training in military public affairs and civil-military co-operation to broaden his skillset and experience.
Supporting up-and-coming journalists is crucial to the success of every media organisation, and Fenlan is keen to keep exploring how we can help get more young journos in news rooms across Australia.
